Nomex Heat Protective Gloves - Pair - SV-GLO/N
Obviously the handling of hot objects requires some form of protection for the hands and wrists but often this protection exchanges one hazard for another. The problem with some asbestos fibres is well known and where stiff materials or mitts are employed, dexterity is sacrificed. Scilabubs range of gloves are designed to offer highly effective protection against high temperatures yet still provide comfort and outstanding durability. The material used in the construction of our gloves is Nomex®, an aromatic polyamide whose outstanding features led to its use in astronauts suits. Infact Scilabubs gloves are very similar to those in regular use by Grand Prix drivers.

Withstands temperatures up to 370oC when degradation begins. When exposed to flame, Nomex does not melt or drip. It simply chars, without offensive odour and with little smoke, to leave a ‘crust’, which continues protection. In normal usage a maximum working temperature of 260oC maintains most physical properties over a number of hours. However, short exposure (e.g. flash fires) gives protection at considerably higher temperatures.
